about
I first came up with the idea for this song in 2016, when I had a totally different vision about love and relationships’ dynamics. Later on, this year, during this global pandemic, I rewrote the lyrics and the melody ex novo according to my current perspective on the topic, I emphasised the sense of fear and impotence one can experience when facing something completely new without having any tool to process it. I also offered my decadent portrait of love alongside its hypocrisies, but I’ll leave the lyrics interpretation to you.
lyrics
I never meant this safe space of mine to wear me down
I painted a million heartless faces not knowing mine
Unaware, anywhere in between, but never there
Everybody knows who is the heir of all their rotten roses
If someone could teach me how to feel
I’d claim the names in my heartlines
If somehow dark matter disappeared
Then so would I with my hurt lines
With clean hands over turbid thoughts
I never thought I’d feel safe far from my dungeon mind
Here 'tween the cracks of my hypocrisy, clearly blind
Unaware, anywhere in between, but never there
Don’t nobody show who was the source of all their burning burdens
If someone could teach me how to feel
I’d claim the names in my heartlines
If somehow dark matter disappeared
Then so would I with my hurt lines
With clean hands over turbid thoughts
Flashes of intermittent clarity
My unconsciousness unfolds
We, we all vex ourselves, it’s how we live
Punishing each other, oh
Heaven’s not meant for me, meant for me, meant for me
(Rip my hands, take my eyes and fill my heart)
Heaven’s not meant for me, meant for me, meant for me
If someone could teach me how to feel
I’d claim the names in my heartlines
If somehow dark matter disappeared
Then so would I with my hurt lines
With clean hands over turbid thoughts
